Process Engineer
This position will provide engineering, technical support and leadership to the Seneca catalyst manufacturing operation. Provides direction of technical operations and activities of assigned manufacturing department. Specifically develops and updates manufacturing instructions, leads troubleshooting efforts and interacts with customers, and other technical personnel. Responsible for process improvements, monitoring and improving quality, product yield, cost of operations, safety and environmental compliance.
Principal responsibilities include:
- Improve quality and yield of manufactured products by: monitoring quality, following precious metal yields, taking inventories, establishing weekly and daily yields, improve quality and yields by developing, implementing and maintaining programs for same
- Perform engineering design, calculations and testing including safety upgrades as required
- Support the Seneca Site's objective to reduce waste by using Lean Manufacturing Tools such as 5S and 6-sigma
- Monitor equipment and daily production data to insure that standard operating procedures are being followed
- Coordinate engineering activities for production department; assist product development work as required
- Keep abreast of technical matters affecting production operations and products by literature, seminars, courses, etc.
- Maintain complete up-to-date equipment files, blueprints, data sheets, operating instructions.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Chemical Engineering Degree preferred. 1+ years engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment OR closely related co-op experience during schooling required. Chemical manufacturing experience a strong plus. Must have competent working knowledge of engineering principles and standards. Must be able to work under limited supervision, primarily guided by specific assignment objectives. Strong communication and computer skills. SAP experience a strong plus.
