Process Intern

We are looking to hire an Intern for our Process Team for the summer of 2026 to support our Project Managers and Engineers. Your role is to ensure every project meets the standards and design intentions of Prein&Newhofs Engineers. Job responsibilities include performing on-site testing, checking materials, pointing out potential problems to the contractor, and keeping the project engineer and supervisor informed of construction progress.

Overall Role

The successful candidate will perform or assist in construction observation, site visits, reviewing equipment and plans and specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

• Obtain measurements and report project daily progress information by completing an Inspectors Daily Report document.
• Must be able to learn to read and understand construction plans, blueprints, and maps.
• Become thoroughly familiar with the plans and specifications for the jobs to be inspected.
• Check materials before and during installation.
• Point out potential problems to the contractor and project engineer and keep project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of project through phone calls and texts.
• Communicate project information to community members, clients and other related parties on site, when applicable.
• Must be able to follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis.
• Assist in design calculations and equipment selection.

Other Responsibilities

• Must have basic math skills to compute quantities and costs when requested.
• Must be able to interpret and implement company mandated safety policies.
• File and index jobs once complete.
• Other duties as needed.

Working Conditions and Environment

• The Process Intern works mostly in the field with some office work. There is travel to and from job sites.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand up for six hours or more at a time, walk in rugged conditions, and work in adverse weather conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• The Process Intern must regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and close vision.

Education and Experience

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Preferred

• Civil Engineering degree (or related field) in progress
• Relevant work experience
