Process Operator, Field

Position Purpose

The hands of the plant. Operates equipment in the field, executes procedures, catches problems before instruments do, and keeps the unit running safely around the clock.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine rounds, monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities.
• Operate valves, pumps, filters, centrifuges, dryers and packaging equipment per written procedures.
• Execute media preparation, sterilization, inoculation, transfer and clean in place operations.
• Take process samples per the sampling plan and perform basic field tests.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance, including isolation, draining, purging and permit support.
• Handle chemicals, solvents and raw materials safely, including unloading and transfer operations.
• Complete logs, checklists and batch records accurately and on time.
• Participate in emergency response as a member of the site response team.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of industrial process operations, or a process technology associate degree.
• Ability to work at height, in confined spaces and in personal protective equipment including respirator.
• Willingness to work a twelve hour rotating shift including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Pass background check, drug screen, physical and respirator fit test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in process technology.
• Fermentation, food, pharmaceutical or specialty chemical experience.
• Forklift and mobile equipment certification.
