Your Day in This Role
Morning: You start by reviewing the day’s Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and confirming welder qualifications against approved WPS/PQRs. You scan material heat numbers to verify traceability and confirm MTR documentation aligns with purchase specs.
Midday: On the deck plates, you conduct Level II Visual Testing (VT) of weld fit-up, reinforcement, and profile. You compare piping isometrics and P&IDs to as-built conditions, check joint cleanliness for high-purity service, and flag any deviations. When pressure tests are scheduled, you witness and document the test, ensuring acceptance criteria are met and recorded.
Afternoon: You log inspection results, issue and track non-conformances, and collaborate with construction and QA leads to recommend corrective actions. You prepare for upcoming client audits, confirm alignment with ASME, API, and project-specific standards, and support quality walkdowns, punch-list completion, and turnover documentation.
What You Will Do
- Execute QA/QC inspections on process piping to verify compliance with codes, standards, client specifications, approved drawings, and project quality requirements.
- Perform VT examinations to evaluate welds, fit-up, finishes, and overall piping integrity.
- Interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, welding procedures, and material certifications to validate work.
- Confirm welder qualifications and that work follows approved WPS requirements.
- Review ITPs and validate that all required inspections and tests are completed and documented.
- Verify material traceability and maintain MTR documentation throughout fabrication and installation.
- Witness and document hydro/pneumatic pressure testing per project criteria.
- Maintain inspection reports, quality records, and nonconformance documentation with precision.
- Partner with field teams to resolve quality issues and drive corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to ASME, API, and other project or client standards.
- Support internal and client audits and participate in quality walkdowns, punch lists, and turnover activities.
What You Bring
- CWI certification (required).
- Level II Visual Testing (VT) certification (required).
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- Demonstrated QA/QC experience with process piping systems.
- Working command of ASME, API, and related industry standards.
- Fluency in reading piping isometrics and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of WPS/PQR requirements, material traceability, and pressure testing methods.
- Clear, concise communication and strong reporting skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven construction environment.
- Effective English communication skills, written and verbal, to perform role responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- NDT Level II in additional methods.
- Background in fabrication shops and field installation.
- Experience with semiconductor, high-purity, or complex process piping.
- Exposure to orbital welding operations.
