Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Lead shift personnel responsible for processing sugar beets and producing finished sugar.
Promote safe working practices and support the facility’s goal of maintaining a zero-injury workplace.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
Plan, organize, schedule, and direct shift activities to optimize production performance.
Ensure adherence to established quality systems, processes, and operating procedures.
Monitor, measure, and report production performance, KPIs, and operational issues.
Troubleshoot processing problems and use root cause analysis to implement lasting corrective actions.
Train employees on factory stations, operating procedures, safety expectations, and productivity standards.
Participate actively in continuous-improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with purchasing to ensure required processing and operating supplies are available.
Partner with process engineering, production, maintenance, and factory leadership to support preventive maintenance.
Coordinate maintenance activities during scheduled non-processing downtime to improve equipment reliability and operational readiness.
Collaborate with other shift supervisors to maintain seamless shift transitions and establish shift schedules.
Apply the labor agreement as needed and hold employees accountable to established rules and expectations.
Spend up to 80% of working time on the factory floor supporting, coaching, and collaborating with employees.

Qualifications Needed:

Proven supervisory experience within an industrial processing or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead hourly production employees in a hands-on factory setting.
Experience improving safety, productivity, process performance, or product quality.
Working knowledge of production processes, KPIs, operational troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
Ability and willingness to develop mechanical, chemical-process, and preventive-maintenance knowledge.
Willingness to learn and apply continuous-improvement methods, including root cause analysis and Lean Six Sigma principles.
Computer proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to work effectively with hourly employees, technical teams, other supervisors, and senior management.

Preferred, Not Required:

Bachelor’s degree.
Five to ten years of process or industrial manufacturing experience.
Three to five years of maintenance experience.
Sugar-beet processing or sugar-refining experience.
