Position Overview
The Process Technician 1's role is to assist Engineers in the execution and analysis of 3D printed builds and perform maintenance in support of tool operation within the overall scope of the engineering function at the company. In this role, you will learn all about the operation and maintenance of post-processing machines and processes. The primary function of this position is to assist in the post-processing of 3D printed builds and supporting tools following detailed procedures and safety guidelines. 
 
This position reports onsite to our Fremont CA location Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm.

Essential Functions

  • Preventive maintenance of supportive tools 
  • Operate machines for post-processing steps with attention to detail and safety 
  • Follow procedures to perform basic metrology and post-processing steps on the parts after printing 
  • Follow directions for proper record keeping using electronic MFG systems 
  • Initiate and participate in process improvement activities as approved and directed by the supervisor 
  • Participate in team and other assigned meetings 
  • Other duties as needed or required 

Qualifications

  • 2 years of directly applicable experience operating machines in a lab or manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 100lbs.
  • Professional working experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or research and development environment.
  • Experience as a machinist is desired
  • Good mechanical aptitude (basic machine operations, monitoring, debugging)
  • Good computer skills to enter data and record information
  • Demonstrated experience following established safety rules and regulations
  • Committed to quality, safety, and communication
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Aptitude to follow process instructions
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work space
  • Team-oriented and self-directed

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing laboratory
  • Work is on-site at Velo3D’s facility in Fremont, California
  • Daily work shift is: Monday-Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm shift
  • Able to lift a maximum of 60 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Must wear steel-toed boots
  • Must wear protective eyewear
  • May require hearing protection
  • High frequency of computer keyboarding
  • High frequency of viewing a computer monitor

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base hourly rate for this full-time position is between $29.00 and $35.00. This hourly rate range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
