    Title or Role: Procurement Category Manager (Electrical)
    Compensation: Up to $180,000 salary with Equity & Bonus plus benefits commensurate with experience
    Location: On-Site Denver Metropolitan Area

    Company Description: Our Client is an industrial-scale data center construction and operations company. They allocate data center opportunities between bitcoin mining and other high performance computing services, such as AI. They continue to develop there pipeline of power capacity at high-quality data center sites, either for bitcoin mining or HPC.

    Position Description:
    Our Client is seeking two highly capable Category Managers to own tactical procurement execution, supplier performance, and commercial management for mission-critical data center equipment. This role is not strategic sourcing in theory — it is hands-on, high-accountability procurement execution. Candidates must be comfortable owning commercial documents. This role will also absorb contract management responsibilities, including contract preparation support, redlining, commercial term enforcement, and change management.

    Responsibilities:
    • Supplier Qualification & Vendor Onboarding
      • Lead supplier pre-qualification efforts
      • Conduct technical-commercial due diligence with Engineering
      • Evaluate: Manufacturing capacity, financial stability
      • Lead time reliability
      • Quality track record
      • Support vendor onboarding in coordination with Finance and Legal
    • Contract & Commercial Management
      • Support drafting and negotiation of supply agreements
      • Redline commercial terms
      • Manage contract compliance and enforcement
      • Ensure scope clarity and deliverable alignment
      • Lead change order review and negotiation
      • Protect against scope creep and ambiguous inclusions
      • Monitor milestone payments and performance triggers
    • Purchase Orders & Change Orders
      • Issue and manage POs aligned to contract terms
      • Validate pricing and scope alignment
      • Track COs and commercial impacts
      • Evaluate cost claims and negotiate adjustments
      • Ensure clean documentation for Finance and Cost Engineering
    • Negotiations & Commercial Strategy
      • Lead pricing negotiations
      • Identify cost reduction opportunities
      • Evaluate alternative suppliers where appropriate
      • Develop leverage strategies in constrained markets
      • Support framework agreements were beneficial
    • Expediting & Supplier Performance
      • Track manufacturing milestones
      • Drive supplier accountability
      • Escalate delays early
      • Coordinate with Planning and Construction
      • Participate in factory visits (as required)
      • Ensure testing and FAT readiness
    • Logistics & Delivery Coordination
      • Coordinate shipment planning
      • Identify transportation constraints
      • Align delivery windows with site readiness
      • Mitigate storage and staging risks
      • Track customs or cross-border issues
      • Partner closely with multiple teams

    Deep familiarity with:

    • Transformers (utility and site)
    • Medium voltage switchgear
    • Low voltage switchgear
    • Bus duct systems
    • Generators
    • Paralleling gear
    • Protection relays
    • Cable procurement (MV and LV)

    Must understand:

    • Utility coordination timelines
    • Factory test requirements (FAT)
    • Protection setting dependencies
    • Commodity volatility (copper, steel)
    • Manufacturing backlogs in constrained markets
    Qualifications:
    • Construction environment procurement experience
    • 8–15+ years in procurement, supply chain, or commercial management
    • Direct experience with large-scale industrial or infrastructure equipment
    • Proven negotiation experience
    • Experience managing supplier performance under schedule pressure
    • Comfortable in fast-track environments

    Strongly Preferred

    • Data center or mission-critical experience
    • Experience with long-lead constrained equipment markets
    • Construction-integrated procurement exposure
    • Contract redlining experience
    • Ability to read drawings and technical specifications

    Education & Certifications:
    • Electrical, mechanical or civil engineering degree
