JOB ROLE: National Oilwell Varco seeks a Procurement Category Specialist to join our Corporate Procurement Team in Houston. The ideal candidate will drive strategic sourcing initiatives, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and bring a strong work ethic to the role.
JOB SUMMARY: The Procurement Category Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic sourcing initiatives across the organization. The position shall work closely with NOV site personnel as well as manufacturers and distributors to bring value to the organization. The successful candidate will possess an understanding of supply chain fundamentals, a strong work ethic and be a self-starter with the ability to bring complex projects to conclusion.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for assigned category(s)
- Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify cost-savings opportunities
- Prepare and execute RFQ?s and RFP?s
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships (including but not limited to: negotiation of pricing, discount structures, and commercial terms)
- Analyze spending patterns and develop strategic sourcing plans
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs
- Track and report on key procurement performance metrics
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned
- Comply with all NOV policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a procurement or supply chain role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of supply chain fundamentals, including strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and bringing them to completion.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools for contract management, supplier evaluation, and data analysis.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
