About Houston-Galveston Area Council The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country, with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. What will I be doing? - Manage procurement activities for goods and services using a variety of methods
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and oversee the process through contract award
- Perform requests for bid/quotes and issue purchase orders as applicable
- Serve as a subject matter expert on procurement policies and procedures
Key Qualifications- Relevant experience may substitute for education
- Strong experience procuring commodities and complex services
- Ability to develop detailed bid specifications and requests for proposals (RFP’s)
- Knowledge of governmental procurement and OMB standards
- Experience with purchase order software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Do you have… - Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
- 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in public procurement or local government
- Familiarity with RFP, RFQ, and IFB processes
- Experience handling requisitions and purchase orders
