Job Description:

Job Overview

The Procurement Intern will support the Procurement Department in the coordination, organization, analysis, and tracking of procurement activities for construction projects. The intern will assist with vendor information, bid comparisons, purchase orders, contract documentation, procurement reports, and communication with project teams and suppliers. The role also includes supporting procurement activities for both ongoing projects and active bidding efforts, gaining hands‑on experience in the processes required for contract award. As part of this support, the intern will evaluate potential vendors, prepare comparative studies, develop procurement status reports, and contribute to the procurement needs of projects in execution as well as those in the bidding phase.

This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with a strong technical background and a genuine interest in construction, procurement processes, supply chain management, contract administration, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and organization of procurement documentation, including vendor quotations, bid tabs, purchase orders, and contract files.
  • Assist in managing and updating vendor and subcontractor information.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize proposals for materials, equipment, and subcontracted work packages.
  • Maintain procurement tracking logs, status reports, and follow‑up actions.
  • Keep records organized and up to date in SharePoint, Procore, InSite, Excel, and other procurement platforms.
  • Prepare analytical reports on procurement activity, vendor performance, package status, pricing trends, pending approvals, and cost comparisons.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards and visual reports using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify delays, bottlenecks, missing information, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather procurement requirements, delivery schedules, and outstanding documentation.
  • Monitor procurement packages, approval workflows, and document status.
  • Perform data entry, document control, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, templates, reporting tools, and data visibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong interest in construction procurement, supply chain operations, data analysis, and project execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize, interpret, and analyze information effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow up on outstanding items.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Procore, SharePoint, Power BI, or other project management and reporting platforms.
  • Basic understanding of construction materials, subcontracting practices, or procurement workflows.
  • Interest in procurement analytics, dashboard development, reporting, and process optimization.
  • Ability to review data and documentation to identify missing, inconsistent, or inaccurate information.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Position Objective

The objective of this internship is to support the Procurement Department by enhancing the organization, tracking, analysis, and reporting of procurement activities, while helping project teams secure materials, services, and subcontractor support efficiently and on schedule.
