Procurement Specialist
Location: Alvarado, TX 76009
Duration: 4+ Month of Contract with possibility of extension and FTE
Shift: Monday–Friday, (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

 
Professional summary
  • Under direct supervision, plans sourcing of goods and services to support manufacturing, field operations, technology, or project management strategic plans at the plant level.
  • Completes with and executes Category Management strategies in accordance with policies and procedures. Issues purchase orders in response to material requirements established by manufacturing, field operations, or projects.
  • Implement agreements for local procurement of goods and services not covered under Category Management.
  • Creates requests for quotations (RFQ) and organizes competitive biddings from various suppliers to obtain the best quality, delivery, and price for goods and services.
  • Assesses supplier performance. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in a technical, business, or similar discipline required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement or production environment.
  • Advanced procurement certification preferred (CPM, etc.). Purchase to Pay knowledge is desirable.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a procurement, purchasing, or production environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support sourcing and procurement activities for manufacturing, field operations, technology, and project teams.
  • Execute Category Management strategies while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Create, process, and manage purchase orders based on business requirements.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs), coordinate supplier bidding processes, and evaluate vendor proposals.
  • Monitor supplier performance and assist in resolving procurement-related issues.
  • Support local purchasing activities for goods and services not covered under existing procurement agreements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and procurement documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
  • Contribute to cost savings, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvements.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
  • Professional procurement certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are preferred.
