Position Summary:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations, engineering projects, and customer deliveries. This role works closely with engineering, production, vendors, and operations teams to ensure timely procurement of quality materials at competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in procurement within a manufacturing, automation, pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Source and procure materials, components, equipment, and services required for manufacturing and engineering projects.
- Review engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications to identify purchasing requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes, negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Create and manage purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation within the ERP/MRP system.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and project timelines.
- Expedite critical orders and resolve supplier delivery or quality issues as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and identify alternate sourcing opportunities when necessary.
- Assist with inventory control efforts and support initiatives to reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate procurement status updates to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier files, and procurement documentation.

Qualifications Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience supporting automation, machinery, pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industries is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of BOMs, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with supplier development and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- APICS, CPM, CPSM, or other procurement/supply chain certifications preferred.
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated or GMP manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Experience supporting custom automation or capital equipment projects preferred.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an active mechanical assembly shop. The noise level in the work environment can be minimal to high. Safe work practices are always required in accordance with OSHA regulations, Addtronics, LLC safety protocols, and customer safety protocols.
Position Classification
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Depending on the needs of the business, the ability to work more than 40 hours/week and/or weekends may be required. Overtime will not be paid for hours worked over 40 hours/week.
