DESCRIPTION:

Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll manage and enhance strategic sourcing initiatives as a Procurement Specialist III - Lab Equipment. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll manages and continuously improve the assigned categories of spend. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams of sourcing, operations, technical, finance and other key colleagues to prioritize category initiatives, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, support spend migration from incumbent to preferred suppliers, and manage preferred supplier relationships.You'll support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer by ensuring reliable, cost-effective procurement of critical materials and services.

Scale of Responsibilities

  • Completes global category initiatives to deliver key category performance indicators, including: savings, supplier rationalization, low-cost region sourcing, risk management, spend under agreement, joint innovation, and supplier performance.
  • Participates in developing and refreshing existing 3 to 5-year global procurement category strategies aligned to the business needs of multiple business units and geographic regions.
  • Supports the development and execution of global sourcing strategies including identifying and contracting with preferred suppliers that meet key business needs and category management goals
  • Participates in the management of Lab Equipment Category NPI's, (New Product Introductions, including eRFI/eRFQ category specific requirements and new technology identification.
  • Perform other duties and tasks assigned.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Monitors market intelligence and key trends, assesses impact and refines category plans to support business requirements
  • Engages in thought leadership in developing and implementing category and supplier strategies.
  • Analyzes category requirements and business requirements as well as supplier performance data to find opportunities for assigned category strategies in developing and continually improving 3-5 strategies
  • Supports supplier business reviews with suppliers to ensure both parties meet obligations under the terms of agreement, including performance standards, continuous improvement, innovation and category goals
  • Manage the impact of cost and risk when developing contracts
  • Drives negotiations with global agreements and global suppliers aligned with category strategy

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues (quality, technical, operations, finance, product management.) to ensure all category sourcing activities are aligned to common objectives and priorities
  • Influences stakeholders across procurement, product management, operations, and engineering to drive Lab Equipment value realization
  • Partners with Category Managers, Division Business Partners, and functional partners to gather business requirements for strategy development.

Education, Experience, Knowledge

  • HS diploma or equivalent plus 10 years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience
  • Experience in mid-to-large multinational companies, with strong category/business engagement experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications (CPSM, CSCP, CPM) preferred.
  • Business insight - knows how to assess market/business requirements dynamics and negotiate agreements that yield meaningful business value
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries preferred
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, spend analytics, and procurement tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of Applications, Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated consultative/collaborative style in performing sourcing activities
  • Influences without authority to motivate cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on manufacturing and/or supply chain experience is preferred
  • Experience in life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries is preferred
  • Ability to travel 0 to 25%
