This position will be responsible for large-scale procurements. The work involves responsibility for processing requisitions, purchase orders, and competitive bids for general and specialized commodity areas, such as equipment, materials, supplies, and services.
Job responsibilities include, but may not be limited, to the following:
The primary purpose of the Department of Public Safety is the efficient and effective Administration of the Department of Public Safety Budgetary Management, Financial Management, Procurement, and other services, consistent with the N.C. General Statutes, State Budget Fiscal Policies and Procedures, State Purchasing and Contract Administrative Code, DPS Fiscal Policies and Procedures, and Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles and Practices. The purpose of the organizational unit of Purchasing and Logistics is to provide Comprehensive procurement of goods and/or services to the entire Department of Public Safety in six primary functional areas: Purchasing of Goods and Services; Real Property Lease and Acquisitions; Fleet Management; Auxiliary Support Services / Law Enforcement Support Services (LESS) Office; and DNA Evidence Collection of Anonymous Sexual Assault Kits. The Fleet Management Section is responsible for over 800 vehicles, including those rented from Motor Fleet Management and those owned by the Department. This section is responsible for scheduling repairs, fuel, and vehicle replacements for the various Divisions within DPS.

Salary Recruitment Range: $70,528.00 - $85,000.00

The work schedule is Monday through Friday (8AM - 5PM). We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences, including Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution, three years of procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Requirements Completion of the North Carolina Contract Management Certification Program within one year of hire into the position.
