Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist with contract negotiation expertise and in-depth knowledge of corporate services . The successful candidate will play a critical role in formulating procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the services procurements align with our strategic goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies across Corporate Services portfolios (e.g., consulting, HR services, marketing, facilities, legal support), ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, cost optimization goals, and risk management standards.
  • Supplier Market Intelligence & Evaluation: Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify best‑value partners, balancing cost, service quality, scalability, and risk across diverse service-based categories.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage spend analytics, benchmarking, and performance data to inform sourcing strategies, track savings, and drive continuous improvement in procurement outcomes.
  • Business Unit Engagement & Demand Planning: Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple business units to understand service needs, shape demand, and ensure timely, compliant, and value-driven procurement execution.
  • Supplier Governance & Relationship Management: Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships, including performance management, governance routines, and long-term agreements that deliver consistent service quality and measurable value.
  • Contracting & Commercial Negotiations: Lead contract development and negotiations, partnering with Legal to structure agreements that optimize pricing, define clear deliverables and SLAs, and appropriately manage risk (e.g., liability, indemnification, compliance).
  • Services Procurement Expertise: Apply deep expertise in procuring professional and managed services-including consulting, contingent labor-adjacent services, and enterprise support functions-to advise stakeholders and ensure proper sourcing approaches (e.g., SOW vs. PO, rate structures, outcome-based models).
  • Governance, Compliance & Process Excellence: Ensure all procurement activities align with enterprise policies, approval frameworks, and audit requirements, while driving standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement across procurement processes

Job Overview

This role supports the Purchase Order (PO) issuance process and assists with order fulfillment. Employees in this role observe and support negotiations, assists in answering Business Unit questions, and handle straightforward issues relating to purchase orders and tracking order status. This role completes tasks as directed by higher-level staff and engages in continuous training.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executes Purchase Requisition to PO processes and manages order fulfillment
  • Leads Request For Proposal (RFP) and negotiation processes
  • Manages day-to-day supplier relationships at senior levels
  • Participates in internal strategic planning sessions
  • Conducts market analyses and identifies areas for improvement
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years
