Russell Tobin's client,  a world leader in heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions company, is hiring a  Transportation Planner

  in Wichita, KS.

 

Job Title: Transportation Planner

Pay Rate: Up to $23.45/hour

Schedule:

Monday–Friday

7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Location: Wichita, KS

 

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Transportation Planner to support day-to-day transportation operations for packaged truck deliveries. This temporary position focuses on shipment tracking, carrier coordination, and ensuring on-time deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations and thrive in a fast-paced environment where communication and organization are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily packaged truck deliveries.
  • Track and trace shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Communicate shipment status, delays, and transportation issues with internal teams and external carriers.
  • Coordinate pickups with manufacturing plants and shipping locations.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Tender and manage transportation orders using SAP and assigned carrier networks.
  • Build and manage transportation loads while monitoring unrouted orders.
  • Coordinate shipping and delivery schedules, customer add-ons, and load changes.
  • Review, log, and approve carrier invoiced costs.
  • Monitor transportation performance, cost, and service metrics.
  • Escalate complex transportation issues as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 2+ years of relevant transportation or logistics experience, or 4+ years of related professional experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with transportation planning and shipment coordination.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
