We are seeking a Procurement Technical Expeditor to support manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely delivery of critical equipment, materials, and services while managing supplier performance from purchase order placement through final delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial manufacturing, EPC, energy, construction, mining, processing, or other heavy industrial environments and possess a strong understanding of supplier management, technical procurement, expediting, and project execution.

This role serves as a key liaison between engineering, procurement, operations, maintenance, logistics, and suppliers to ensure equipment and materials are delivered on time, meet technical requirements, and support production schedules and project milestones. The successful candidate will proactively identify risks, drive recovery plans, conduct supplier visits, and resolve issues that could impact project schedules or manufacturing operations.

Candidates should be comfortable reviewing technical specifications, engineering drawings, procurement documentation, quality requirements, and supplier schedules while managing multiple critical orders simultaneously.

A key requirement of this position is the ability to travel frequently, often on short notice. Supplier visits may be driven by emerging delivery risks, schedule concerns, quality issues, or project needs. The successful candidate must be flexible, responsive, and willing to travel as needed to supplier facilities to verify progress, remove obstacles, and ensure on-time delivery of critical equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities Supplier Performance & Expediting
  • Manage supplier execution and performance from purchase order placement through final delivery.
  • Monitor supplier schedules, manufacturing progress, and delivery commitments to ensure project and operational requirements are achieved.
  • Identify risks, delays, quality concerns, and technical issues early and develop corrective action plans.
  • Drive recovery efforts with suppliers to mitigate schedule impacts and prevent production disruptions.
  • Conduct supplier visits to verify progress, validate schedules, review manufacturing status, and remove barriers to delivery.
  • Maintain visibility of critical-path orders and communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
Technical Coordination
  • Review and understand engineering drawings, technical specifications, procurement documentation, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are properly understood and executed.
  • Support resolution of technical questions, specification clarifications, and supplier issues throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Ensure suppliers meet contractual, technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement, logistics, warehousing, and project teams to support manufacturing and project objectives.
  • Coordinate material flow and delivery schedules to support operational readiness and project milestones.
  • Resolve material shortages, supplier constraints, transportation issues, and delivery challenges.
  • Support project planning and scheduling activities by providing supplier performance updates and risk assessments.
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Promote supplier accountability regarding schedule adherence, quality performance, responsiveness, and execution capability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements, contractual obligations, quality standards, and procurement procedures.

Required Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
Experience
  • 3–7+ years of experience in procurement, technical expediting, supplier management, project controls, supply chain, manufacturing operations, sourcing, project scheduling, or related industrial functions.
  • Experience supporting industrial manufacturing, EPC, energy, power generation, mining, construction, chemical processing, oil & gas, metals, or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier performance and critical equipment deliveries.
  • Experience conducting supplier visits, factory inspections, progress reviews, or supplier performance assessments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive deliverables in fast-paced environments.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, purchase orders, quality documentation, and manufacturing schedules.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, equipment manufacturing, industrial construction, or capital project procurement processes.
  • Understanding of supplier quality requirements, inspection processes, and delivery performance metrics.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify risks and drive solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with suppliers, engineers, project managers, operations teams, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • High attention to detail with strong sense of ownership and urgency.
Travel Requirements
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on short notice when supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality concerns, or project requirements warrant onsite support.
  • Travel may include visits to supplier manufacturing facilities, fabrication shops, warehouses, and project sites throughout North America.

Success Measures
Success in this role will be measured by:
  • On-time delivery of critical equipment, materials, and services.
  • Reduction of supplier-related schedule delays.
  • Effective identification and mitigation of supply chain risks.
  • Improved supplier performance and accountability.
  • Successful execution of recovery plans when delivery risks arise.
  • Strong collaboration with engineering, operations, maintenance, and procurement teams.
  • Consistent support of manufacturing operations and project milestones.

Why This Role
This position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations and major capital projects by ensuring suppliers deliver on their commitments. The role combines supplier management, technical problem solving, field engagement, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy working in fast-paced industrial environments and driving tangible business outcomes.
