Produce clerks are responsible for preparing, packaging, displaying, pricing, and merchandising any and all fresh produce and other items maintained within the department. Produce clerks inform customers about fresh produce and other produce items.

The Market in the Square is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Produce department as a Produce Clerk.

Responsibilities:
- Stocks, rotates, fills, faces products and displays
- Ensures cleanliness of produce aisles, storage areas, and work areas; including, but not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping, etc
- Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: loading / unloading trucks, inspecting deliveries, trimming, watering, packaging, weighing, labeling and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality offerings
- Answers questions from customers about produce products in a professional manner
- Proactively notifies manager when product levels are low or empty
- Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern
- Safely operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to, knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, and labeling machines

- Ability to operate equipment; including, but not limited to, scales and wrappers
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire workday
- The ability to lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Weekend and holiday work will be required; flexible hours
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience working in a Produce Department preferred but not necessary
