Department: Houston Public Media Salary: $38,100- $64,600

Description:

This department will be hiring a Producer 1, Producer 2 or a Producer 3.

Producer 1- $38,100- $42,850

Produces content programs for Houston Public Media (HPM). Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

  1. Pitches, develops and produces media content, both digital and broadcast, in accordance with PBS Editorial Standards.

  2. Integrates entry-level, interns and work study students into project processes to better benefit the overall goals and objects of HPM.

  3. Keeps track of current events in the framework of organizational objectives.

  4. Participates in project processes as needed and stays current on media landscape changes.

  5. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of six (6) months of directly job-related experience.

Producer 2- $43,000-$54,800

Produces content programs for Houston Public Media (HPM). Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

Coordinates, writes and produces mid-level programs and content for Houston Public Media (HPM). Determines the production needs of programs to best achieve project and organizational objectives. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

  1. Develops and produces media for various projects in accordance with PBS Editorial Standards.

  2. Oversees and provides guidance to junior production staff in the creation, writing and production of programs and content.

  3. Coordinates media distribution and promotion across all platforms.

  4. Conceives, develops and/or transforms program ideas and concepts into programs and/or promotional spots.

  5. Keeps abreast of changes in media landscape.

  6. Performs other job-related duties as required.
