Position Overview

The Approbation Specialist ensures quality assurance and regulatory compliance for new product launches. This role manages product registrations with safety and performance testing agencies (UL, ETL, CSA, Energy Star, DLC, NSF, etc.), creates UL file numbers for new lighting categories, and oversees annual purchase orders for regulatory testing bodies.

You will collaborate with product and regulatory compliance leadership, engineering, and product management teams to confirm products meet all required standards. The position entails direct work with our retail sales team to coordinate any testing required by our customers to support the launch and ongoing sale of our products.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate UL file listings and multi-agency safety registrations • Manage surveillance and verification testing with regulatory agencies • Support engineering teams in China and product management in the US, Canada, and Mexico • Oversee submissions for Energy Star, DLC, Dark Sky, CEC, and NSF • Handle CSA Group factory payments • Obtain quotes for approbation and verification testing • Issue quality hold notifications • Support Germicidal/UVC registration (2026 may be the final year for payments) • Assist retail sales team with customer-required testing • Provide secondary support to customer quality engineering, including quarantine notices and expense requisitions

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field Minimum two years' experience preferred Familiarity with lighting standards Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams Experience with SAP (preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (required) Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with clear and precise documentation for regulatory submissions Prior lighting industry experience is a plus

Relocation and work sponsorship are not available with this position. Hybrid schedule after successfully completing training Compensation: $65-85k
