Position Purpose:
- The Product Code Specialist supports the Building Products business by managing acquisition item onboarding and maintaining accurate item master data throughout the product lifecycle for our Heritage Business. Operating within established ERP standards and processes, this role ensures the accuracy and consistency of product codes across systems, enabling efficient branch operations and reliable data for business customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain product codes for new and existing Lumber/Millwork products, ensuring integration across all company systems and alignment with established standards.
- Assigning and maintaining accurate product codes for Lumber/Millwork products.
- Classifying wood products by species, dimensions, grade, treatment type, and intended use.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Maintaining Lumber/Millwork product data in ERP.
- Verifying dimensions, moisture content, treatment levels, and lumber grades.
- Auditing inventory records and correcting coding discrepancies.
- Analyze item master data requirements and implement required fields, structures, and processes to support evolving business needs and improve data accessibility and usability.
- Collect, validate, and enrich product data by partnering with vendors and internal teams to ensure accurate, complete, and high-quality information is entered into the ERP system.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze, validate, and manipulate data sets, producing insights that enhance product code and item master data management.

- Direct Manager: Senior Manager, Item Master Data. This role does not have direct reports.

- Up to 25% travel required

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the lumber industry as a Lumber Specialist or in a similar analytical role, with strong knowledge of lumber products, inventory control, data analysis, and database management.
- Experience managing and maintaining large data sets within an ERP environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business software.
- Working knowledge of item master data management and data quality practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors in a remote or office-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in information systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Experience with DMSI Agility
- Experience in Building Supply distribution, retail, or related industries
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills.
- Experience supporting process improvement initiatives or training related to data standards.
- Experience with BOM (Build of Materials) maintenance within Agility is a plus.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree in information systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the lumber industry as a Lumber Specialist with strong knowledge of lumber products, inventory control, data analysis, and database management.
Certifications:
- Preferred: Certification in Supply Chain Management, Database Management, or relevant IT certifications
