About the Role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Payments Science team and make significant contributions to our mission to streamline and optimize Ubers global payment experiences. You will work with product managers, engineers, and fellow data scientists to shape the direction of one or more products within Payments. You will work on fast-moving, high-stakes problems reaching a global audience. A deep analytical passion and the ability to execute on key business priorities is a must for this role.

What the Candidate Will Need

Bonus Points • Analyze key data assets to understand our payment experiences. • Develop and monitor strategic metrics and understand all underlying drivers. • Design and run experiments to analyze the impact of product changes. • Deep dive into data to evaluate proposed product changes and identify opportunities for improving the user experience. • Collaborate with product managers and other business leaders to make decisions based on data insights and experiment results. • Communicate your findings to cross-functional peers and management.

Basic Qualifications • Bachelors or Masters with a degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields. • 3 years of experience in improving products, understanding the user journey, and extracting insights from data. • Knowledge of SQL in and out and also being comfortable with using Python and R when needed. • 3 years of experience in launching multiple experiments, such as AB experiments, and an expert in experimental design and using statistical methods in exploratory analysis. • Advanced experience with dashboarding and data visualization, i.e., Google Data Studio, Tableau, Mixpanel, or similar. • Ability to work in a self-guided manner and deliver on tight timelines and prioritize tasks while maintaining quality and detail. • Strong communication and organization skills and able to communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience with causal inference and statistical methods. • Data engineering pipeline creation experience. • Prior experience within the payments or fintech industry.

Salary and Benefits

For San Francisco, CA-based roles, the base salary range for this role is USD142,000 per year - USD158,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles, the base salary range for this role is USD142,000 per year - USD158,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Ubers bonus program and may be offered an equity award and other types of compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
