Job Overview Ingersoll Rand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Design Engineer at our Bentleyville, PA location. This position directly supports the Marine Division with engineering design and development of current and new products.
Responsibilities:
• Work on assigned projects and products to improve design performance and/or manufacturing processes, ensure the correct application of engineering principles are applied, and productive use of resources are deployed. • Support engineering efforts on critical projects, which includes product design review, application of customer spec as it relates to the product, and/or design of testing methods of products during and after assembly. • Produce clear and accurate detail drawings and/or design layouts on CAD system. • Prepare Bills of Materials as required with applicable ERP tools. • Prepares and/or approves Engineering Change Requests and Bill of Material Change Notices as required. • Evaluate and improve existing products based on feedback from manufacturing, quality, or assembly, and assess functionality to determine product effectiveness for customers. • Manage multiple project timelines, focus on project execution of assigned tasks, and on-time delivery to achieve team, departmental, and company goals. • Provide technical guidance to team members, including Sourcing Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing, with respect to product-based education and decisions. • Collect product data via reports, manufacturing, assembly, and testing. • Maintain and control engineering design records for multiple products/projects.
Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. • 3 years of experience with rotating equipment design and manufacturing. • Experience in solid modeling using Computer Aided Design is essential; Autodesk Inventor is preferred. • Proficiency in using and maintaining engineering data in an ERP system; SAP preferred. • Basic understanding of design and manufacturing principles with preferred experience in machining, casting, fabrication, and rotating equipment design and analysis. • Must be a U.S. citizen. • Government security clearances required.
Core Competencies:
• Mechanical aptitude. • Excellent analytical skills required with excellent communication and organizational skills. • Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions, operations, product management, sourcing, etc. • Must be capable to work in a fast-paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere.
Preferences:
• PMP certification and/or other project management experience. • Familiarity with MIL specifications, NDT, and weld joint design is appreciated. • Familiarity using DFMA methodology. • Experience with PLM tools; Windchill preferred. • Strong proficiency in thermodynamics and compressible flow is desirable. • Experience in acoustic and vibration analysis is desirable.
