Position Summary
The Product Design Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and launch of new products while providing technical expertise to support the company’s continued growth.

This position works closely with Product Engineering, Product Release Engineering, Product Development, and other cross-functional teams to ensure products are developed, tested, documented, and released accurately and on schedule. The engineer will also help transfer technical knowledge and product expertise across the organization.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred; equivalent technical experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably focused on mechanism and/or mechatronics design.
• Experience with FEA analysis, functional safety, automotive, or commercial vehicle applications is highly desirable.
• Equivalent combinations of education and relevant engineering experience may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal and external customers to establish and define product design requirements.
• Design, analyze, debug, verify, validate, and document mechanical assemblies using industry-standard engineering and design practices.
• Provide engineering support for existing products by evaluating designs and identifying potential applications, improvements, and solutions.
• Perform system- and subsystem-level safety analyses, including:
• Develop and modify mechanical designs using intermediate to advanced CAD skills.
• Select appropriate materials, coatings, heat treatments, and other design specifications based on product requirements.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
• Perform all assigned safety-critical engineering functions in accordance with applicable requirements and procedures.
• Interpret and apply significant and critical characteristics identified on engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Develop product Design Verification Plan (DVP) test plans aligned with product specifications and requirements.
• Support the product development and release process by ensuring engineering documentation and technical requirements are complete and accurate.

Required Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering and product design fundamentals.
• Intermediate to advanced CAD design capabilities.
• Experience designing mechanical mechanisms and/or mechatronic systems.
• Ability to perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, verification, and validation.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and critical design characteristics.
