The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a pivotal member of the company's Product Development Team, co-located at Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) alongside the operations team. The role focuses on quality assurance for the Explorer and Aviator vehicle lines, overseeing the complete electrical system of the vehicle, including module software and the electrical distribution system.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with developing and releasing wiring harness designs for vehicle electrical distribution systems (EDS)
Experience in resolving DFMEA/design-for-manufacturing issues with harness suppliers
Hands-on experience with OEM wiring design tools (e.g., CATIA/Capital, or equivalent schematic-capture and harness-design software)
Knowledge of SAE/USCAR wiring standards and ability to read and mark up 2D/3D wiring diagrams and geometry
Prior work experience in the automotive industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with Teamcenter/CAD tools for managing engineering change (EC) processes
Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical systems or vehicle wiring systems
Experience in system engineering, root cause analysis, and quality improvement
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Lead resolution of design and quality issues by defining issues and determining initial root cause (design/supplier/manufacturing)
Support daily warranty claim binning, triaging incoming claims, and prioritizing containment actions
Manage the change process for Engineering Issues, coordinate plant trials, and ensure readiness for design changes
Attend VRT sub-system meetings and work with supporting skill teams to resolve quality and design issues
Review internal end-of-line electrical issues and develop work plans for resolution
Lead design resolution of low voltage EDS issues and participate in vehicle builds
