Job Title: Product Engineer / Engineering Data Analyst

Job Description

This role focuses on building and maintaining configurable product models by translating engineering drawings and bills of materials into structured configuration data within Teamcenter and related systems. You will create and manage configuration rules, characteristics, and values across multiple product lines, ensuring accurate 100% bills of material that support automated selections for internal teams. The position closely supports Research & Development and Product Engineering in defining, scaling, and standardizing configuration processes for configurable products.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage configuration rules, characteristics, and values for configurable products across multiple product lines.
  • Build and maintain 100% bills of material (Master BOMs) that include every possible option and variation of a product.
  • Assign configuration rules to each BOM line item to drive automated selections for internal users.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials to identify and define configurable product models.
  • Input and maintain characteristics and characteristic values in Teamcenter, such as dimensional attributes (for example, side channel length values like 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft).
  • Support Research & Development and Product Engineering teams in defining and scaling configuration processes for new and existing products.
  • Maintain Teamcenter with accurate configuration data and product structures, ensuring consistency and integrity of configuration information.
  • Help develop, refine, and standardize configuration processes, including "chunking" products into reusable rule sets to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Work with ERP systems to create and maintain bills of material, ensuring alignment between PLM and ERP data.
  • Handle large-scale configuration datasets, including thousands of configurations per product line (for example, tens of thousands of configurations per conveyor model and thousands per drawing).

Essential Skills

  • Experience in configuration management for configurable products.
  • Proficiency with PLM configuration management tools, specifically Teamcenter.
  • Experience with ERP systems focused on bill of material creation.
  • Hands-on experience creating and managing bills of material within an ERP system, such as SAP.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and associated bills of materials.
  • Bachelor"s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong attention to detail when defining characteristics, characteristic values, and configuration rules.
  • Ability to manage and organize large volumes of configuration data across multiple product lines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working specifically with configurable product models and complex configuration structures.
  • Practical experience with SAP for BOM creation and maintenance.
  • Experience using Teamcenter for product structure and configuration data management.
  • Familiarity with developing standardized configuration processes, including creating reusable rule sets for product families.
  • Comfort working with high-volume configuration scenarios, such as tens of thousands of possible configurations per product model.

Work Environment

This is a full-time role with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week. The typical start time falls between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., offering some flexibility within that window. The position operates in a structured engineering and product development environment that relies on PLM tools such as Teamcenter and ERP systems such as SAP to manage product structures and bills of material. Team members collaborate closely with R&D and Product Engineering, working primarily with digital engineering data, configuration rules, and complex product structures. The organization offers a benefits package that includes paid time off, with 2 weeks of PTO and 6 paid holidays, supporting work-life balance in a professional and process-driven setting.
