The Role

We're looking for a React Native mobile engineer who builds consumer products with the care and craft of an artisan. This is a product-led, user-obsessed role working on complex audio and voice features that make the experience feel distinctly human. You'll own the mobile app end-to-end across iOS and Android and work directly with the founding team on architecture and product.

What you'll be doing

• Own and elevate the mobile app end-to-end in React Native across iOS and Android
• Build complex audio and voice features that make the experience feel human and intentional
• Take products from concept to production with a high degree of autonomy and ownership
• Work directly with the founding team on architectural and product decisions
• Steward the quality and craft of a consumer product held to Apple-level design standards
• Contribute to the platform as it scales from hundreds of users to millions

Tech stack: React Native (iOS & Android); complex audio/voice features; full-stack capability to take features end-to-end.

Requirements

• Work in-person in San Francisco, CA
• 2 to 6 years production React Native experience, required
• Has shipped a React Native app to both iOS and Android in production
• Consumer mobile app experience at a startup or unicorn
• Complex audio or voice feature experience strongly preferred
• High agency, detail-oriented, product-obsessed

Green Flags

• Production React Native experience at a company where RN was the primary mobile framework, Discord, early Airbnb, early Instacart, Shopify, or equivalent, this is the clearest signal of fit
• Background from companies like Uber, Uber Eats, Afterpay, or Cash App
• Has shipped a cross-platform app to both iOS and Android simultaneously in React Native, not just React web
• Consumer product background at a company that went through significant scale, understands architectural decisions made under pressure
• Has built or contributed to complex audio or voice features in a mobile context, directly relevant to the company's core product
• Even one strong internship or junior year at an RN-based startup is a good starting block
• Detail-oriented and design-conscious, cares about how the product feels, not just whether it works

Red Flags

• React web experience being sold as equivalent to React Native
• Swift or native iOS only, no cross-platform experience, the company needs both Android and iOS
• No production mobile app experience, only web or side projects
• Low agency, needs heavy direction or a defined task queue to be productive
• Not willing to be in person in San Francisco, in-person culture at the office is core to how the company works
