Product Engineer – Consolidated Metco, Inc. (Vancouver, WA). Provide new product deployment support by way of installation/service procedure development, field trials, field testing, limited launches, product service support, and customer interactions. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Provide product field support by way of failure analysis and technical reference to field service and sales teams. Provide manufacturing support by way of supplier, plant, and customer audits and technical training. Identify new products and opportunities. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations. Partner with applications engineering to prepare product proposals and recommendations for customers. Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Write technical bulletins for the local market. Direct application data acquisition (vehicle duty cycles, vehicle loading expectations, etc.). Maintain awareness of the relevance and importance of activities and how each contributes to achieving quality objectives. Take action to ensure customer quality standards are met. Select special characteristics, set quality objectives, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, execute product design and development, support supplier capacity analysis, and contribute to supplier scorecards. Requires: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in product development in the manufacturing industry, which includes: Designing and generating prototypes, 3D CAD models, and 2D drawings for mechanical components using CAD software; AND Creating and interpreting engineering diagrams, technical drawings, and design documentation in accordance with ASTM, ASME, ISO standards, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles; AND experience using problem-solving methods, including root cause analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), or conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA); AND use of quality systems, including maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM), control plans, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) checklists, and work instructions in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. Must have knowledge from coursework or employment of the following: manufacturing and finishing processes, and wheel-end component testing; mechanical design principles, finite element analysis, engineering documentation, and quality systems; and basic component and assembly design concepts. $95,784- $157,470/year.
