Product Manager – Slide Gate / Refractory Products

We are seeking a Product Manager with experience in steel manufacturing and refractory applications to support customers and drive product performance across North America. This role serves as both a technical subject matter expert and customer-facing partner, working closely with steel producers to optimize slide gate refractory systems, improve casting performance, and support operational reliability.

This position requires regular travel to customer sites to provide technical support, oversee product trials, and collaborate with customers on process improvements and refractory performance initiatives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Build strong relationships with steelmaking customers, serving as a technical advisor and product expert for slide gate and refractory solutions
Provide on-site technical support and application guidance to help customers improve casting performance, refractory life, and operational efficiency
Collaborate with the sales team to support business growth and expand market share within steel and metallurgical accounts
Manage and oversee product trials, testing, installations, and conversion processes at customer facilities
Support the introduction and implementation of new slide gate technologies, refractory products, and process improvements
Provide technical support during new business development activities, customer evaluations, and contract discussions
Work cross-functionally with R&D, operations, quality, and commercial teams to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction
Analyze product performance data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Lead and manage corrective action investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up initiatives related to refractory and slide gate performance
Support customers with troubleshooting related to tundish flow control, nozzle performance, refractory wear, and casting consistency
Help maintain and strengthen long-term customer partnerships through consistent technical support and responsiveness
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Ceramic, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
2+ years of experience in steel manufacturing, refractory products, continuous casting, or slide gate systems preferred
Strong technical understanding of steel production, continuous casting operations, and refractory applications
Experience supporting customers in the refractory, flow control, or metallurgical product space is highly preferred
Ability to work effectively with customers, sales teams, and technical teams to solve problems and improve product performance
Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and relationship-building skills
Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites across North America
