Key job responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned Product Manager to lead Amazon Music Label and publisher royalty initiatives. This individual will lead core financial automation activities that will drive a big impact on Amazon Music. You will work closely with WW content acquisition managers, Global Finance, Tax, Accounting and Legal, Finance as well as senior leaders to define new initiatives and stakeholder experiences. You will be effective at driving your dedicated engineering team to build the right customer experiences. You will conceive and manage initiatives, while continuously evaluating opportunities for big ideas and ongoing product improvements. This position is responsible for owning and developing a clear product roadmap and implement a diverse set of initiatives and projects throughout the year.

A successful candidate will be highly analytical, excel at influencing broad stakeholder groups, and adept at thinking big to develop long-term, trajectory-changing experiences for internal and external customers. This role will require excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, data-driven analyses and insights, deep curiosity about how things work, bias for action and ownership to drive results, and a passion for building products and experiences. In this context, an ideal candidate will have experience running core licensing, royalty, finance or accounting systems.

A day in the life

8:30 AM - Coffee, Charts & Chords Ease into the day with coffee, a quick check of product metrics, and a soundtrack from my Release Radar. Our latest update shaved X% off processing time for royalty reports - always a great way to start.

9:00 AM - Daily Standup with Engineering

We sprint through blockers and updates on our royalty split service. We clarify edge cases for multi-region payments and help steer us toward a clean launch next week.

10:00 AM - Finance x Tax x Product Jam Session

A cross-functional session with Finance, Tax, and Legal where we discuss new contract rules into product decisions. We're aligning on automation logic for global royalty compliance - not glamorous, but game-changing.

12:30 PM - Ping Pong or Ferry Building Walk

Quick recharge - sometimes a walk to the Ferry Building with engineers, other times a heated foosball or ping pong match. It's our favorite way to decompress and swap "what if" product ideas.

2:00 PM - Label Experience Review

We dive into onboarding friction for indie labels. We pull in feedback from Content and sketch out ideas for a smoother, self-serve flow.

3:00 PM - Big Ideas & Roadmap Threads

Block time for deep thinking - real-time earnings visibility, smart contract triggers, scalable reporting. These sessions often spark what becomes the next 6-pager.

5:00 PM - Wrap-Up & Wind Down

Quick check on JIRA tickets, a few stakeholder follow-ups, and a thank-you shoutout to an analyst who spotted a critical bug. We close the day with a final stream from Amazon Music - always beta testing.

Every play counts. Literally. As a PM in royalties, you"re building the financial backbone that keeps artists, labels, and publishers paid - and the music playing

About the team

We are a fun-loving, slightly geeky (okay, very geeky) crew of builders, thinkers, and dad-joke connoisseurs powering the royalty engine behind Amazon Music. Our team thrives at the intersection of music, finance, and tech - and somehow makes spreadsheets and backend systems feel like a jam session.

We"re the kind of team that gets excited about automating royalty flows and experimenting with the latest AI tools (yes, we've definitely tried asking tools to write our status updates or this brief). We live for that moment when a stakeholder says "Whoa, this is so much better than before."

No shortage of problems to solve here - and no shortage of ideas either. We move fast, we learn fast, and we never turn down a good brainstorm... or a bad pun.

"Why did the royalty system cross the road?"

"To pay the chicken on the other side."

At the end of the day, we're a team that shows up for each other, for our customers, and for the pure joy of building something meaningful - and having a ridiculous amount of fun doing it.

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
