Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Product Sales Engineer is to act as apoint of contact for the company with respect to securing revenue for pump sales via engineering support, estimating and price control, technical and inside sales support, bid/spec management (including municipal sales), and high-level technical sales. The Product Sales Engineer will interact directly with distributors and customers to provide concepts and quotes for GLOBAL PUMP equipment that meets the needs of the intended use. The Sales Engineer should also act as an intermediary between ENGINEERING, OPERATIONS and SALES, ensuring that equipment production meets the specifications of the customer.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Manufacturing

  • Have intimate knowledge of every GLOBAL PUMP make and model (including parts, accessories, options, troubleshooting, startup training, etc.) to provide accurate equipment recommendations to customers, distributors and branches
  • Develop and maintain accurate annual costing information across all products sold by Global Pump Company by working with purchasing, maintaining accurate BOM costing sheets for producing our Standard Product Line, as well as cost lists of standard/preferred makes and models of third-party goods that are frequently needed for Engineered to Order (ETO) products. sold in conjunction with our products.
  • Maintain ALL Sales price lists for Complete Pumping Units, Component Adders, Pump Ends & Priming Systems, and Accessories. Complete Pumping Unit price lists will include North America Price List, Export Only Price Lists (LRC sales) for units built and supplied from the US Factory, and Export Only Price Lists (LRC sales) for units built and supplied from either Mexico or South Africa.
  • Collaborate with the Parts Department to maintain up to date parts pricing/cost lists, and to develop spare parts lists by model to help complete municipal bid opportunities, as well as to drive aftermarket parts sales.
  • Develop and maintain CSI formatted sales specs - by model - that include specific details that emphasize features and benefits of the Global Pump product that separate the product from the competition.
  • Assist with OIS generation and pump order processing, and participate in OIS/production meetings to ensure accuracy of orders and to assist with communication between MANUFACTURING and SALES
  • Participate in supplier meetings to provide sales and operational input to those suppliers
  • Oversee pump testing and pump curve development for all GLOBAL PUMP makes and models
  • Provide internal product training to branch or manufacturing staff when needed
  • Review and maintain the MDI jobs report for manufacturing and distributors (GPR), ensuring accurate data is input for the pipeline report and that projects are updated accordingly
Distributors & Customers
  • Assist National Sales Manager and Regional Sales Managers in all aspects of product sales to increase revenue generation
  • Serve as the inside support expert for the Global Pump produce lines (pumps, generators, accessories) when serving our distributors or customers seeking information on equipment, providing pricing for standard or custom equipment and making recommendations based on the specific application or intended use
  • Assist with Maintain distributor agreements, have intimate knowledge of contract requirements held within each and ensure all agreements are filed and readily accessible
  • Develop, distribute and maintain a rental rate guide for each distributor with a signed agreement, ensuring rental rate guides are updated at regular intervals
  • Assist with distributor billing disputes, providing information on rental rate guides, distributor agreements to resolve the dispute
  • Develop and maintain a distributor and customer feedback analysis process to solicit feedback on customer service and equipment performance, ensuring to convey feedback to manufacturing and management in a meaningful way to improve future service levels
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the distributor training program, ensuring all distributors receive thorough product and application training
  • Assist in providing new equipment sales training to customers or distributors when SALES is not able or not available to do so
Inside Sales & Engineering
  • Drive the municipal/government bid spec market nationally
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all Municipal Sales opportunities as developed by branch and distributor sales personnel
  • Identify, apply, register, and maintain affiliation with government sourcing programs such as GSA, HGAC, JAC, FSA, Sourcewell, and other such government procurement programs
  • Generate and manage large quantity or high priority pump quotes such as municipalities, large customers, etc.
  • Review projects for bid and ensure that the plan/quote is appropriate for the work to be performed
  • Review Pump Sale Specifications and review branch pursuit, taking lead on non-branch covered opportunities ensuring that the proper product is quoted
  • Assist in troubleshooting projects where performance issues arise and an engineered solution is required
  • Provide support to the National Bypass Estimating Engineer, Corporate Estimating Engineer team acting as a secondary point of contact when there is workload overflow for national accounts or distributors regarding dewatering, bypass, or Environmental work
  • Assist MARKETING in the creation and maintenance of all technical marketing materials
  • Assist in developing GLOBAL PUMP standard spec sheets for all pumps make and models to be provided when a customer or municipality is looking to create specification requirements for a bid, ensuring that GLOBAL PUMP defines the standard minimum specifications for all other bidders to meet
  • Maintain the Pump-Flo & PCMS catalog, ensuring the online pump selection application produces accurate recommendations based on that data input
  • Attend marketing conventions (WEFTEC, Pumper Show) to interact with potential customers and distributors, and assist with show pump coordination between MARKETING and GLOBAL PUMP
  • Providing operational support on projects where engineering services are required (testing, sampling, data collection, etc.);
  • Assist HR with general pump training material and presentations as required by the organization with the intention of developing our personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in Sales Engineering, Application Engineering or in a related field
  • Work experience in a pumping industry preferred
  • Planning and organizational skills in handling multiple projects
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel, and other require PC software applications
