Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to develop live sports production skills through five program phases. Successful completion of the program will result in an Associate Producer position in the NEP South Florida facility.

Phase I- Media Management
Phase II- Replay
Phase III- Graphics
Phase IV- Technical Director/
Phase v
PHASE I - Media Management
- Understanding how media asset management works before and after the live event, which may include:
- Logging
- Editing
- Asset verification
PHASE II - Replay
- Understanding the replay operator and producer position within a live sports production, which may include:
- Learning multiple replay devices and how they operate.
- Setting up machines for game day and other use
- Building pre-production packages
- Learning the routing of different feeds and content
- Operating the machine during a live broadcast
PHASE III – Graphics
- Understanding the graphics operator and producer position within a live sports production, which will include:
- Learning the Ross Xpression graphics machine
- Learning the Viz and Duet graphics machines as needed
- Learning how Excel spreadsheets are setup and are used for graphics
- Build and set up the Ross Dashboard for live productions
- Research stats and information and how it relates to live graphics
- Operating the machine during a live broadcast
PHASE IV – Technical Director/Director
- Understanding the technical director and direction position within a live sports production, which will include:
- Learning what a switcher is
- Learning to setup and troubleshoot all types of switchers
- Work with directors to Technical Direct (TD) live broadcasts
- Work as a solo TD/Director on live broadcasts
PHASE V – Producing
- Understanding the producer position within a live sports production, which will include:
- Creating show formats
- Setting up and running meetings with teams
- Setting up and running meetings with game talent
- Understanding how sponsored elements are integrated into broadcasts
- Produce live broadcasts including talking to talent, calling replays and keeping the broadcast organized
Length and order of the program may vary depending on technical skills and truck scheduling
Evaluations:
- Evaluation of the Apprentice will be conducted at the completion of each program phase.
- Final Evaluation and Assessment will be conducted prior to Graduation.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Associates or Technical Degree preferred from a Broadcast Communications, Journalism or media production school.
- Understanding of basic photo and video editing skills
- Ability to work on tasks and projects independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
