Job Responsibilities:

  • 2-year College (or University) Associates or Technical degree in Production/Operations Management or related field; vocational/trade school program certification in Manufacturing, Production or related field; and/or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing/operations experience with minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in operational improvements using Lean methods and techniques.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of general office procedures including PC and LAN use. Must be proficient in relevant computer software and program use.
  • Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work), 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and drive team to reach targets.
  • Experience with recognized problem-solving techniques, i.e., black belt, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.
  • Familiarity with welded sheet metal assemblies.
  • Excellent math skills with the ability to apply to costs and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong listening skills as well as written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated maturity of judgement and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment in order to meet customer requirements.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Must be able to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality, using discretion and tact.

DUTIES:

  • Establishes and maintains effective communications/interaction with all other departments, including but not limited to engineering, quality assurance, material control, maintenance, and human resources support groups in order to achieve established targets.
  • Implements and supports MAFACT Standards
  • Plans and directs the utilization and use of all equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results.
  • Understands, compiles and organizes operational data using that data to implement improvements by working with teams and using lean tools and problem-solving methods.
  • Monitors and adjusts inventory balances as required, investigates inventory problems, and implements solutions to source.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance with Maintenance and Production Planning.
  • Monitors and completes required Layered Process Audits (LPAs).
  • Coordinates the movement of quarantine material/parts/scrap upon disposition by Quality Assurance.
  • Completes assigned Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) on assembly equipment ensuring fewer breakdowns, less down time and expensive repairs.
  • Ensures all assembly equipment running 100% of allowed time
  • Assists with changeovers on assembly cells and related equipment.
  • Removes obstacles to ensure both production requirements and quality demands are met.
  • Follows the escalation process.
  • Ensures completion and effectiveness of corrective actions using various problem-solving techniques, e.g., 8D, daily feedback, 5-Why, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.
  • Ensures that all necessary record keeping including employee records, requisitions and documentation is initiated and completed in a timely manner.
  • Understands Cosma Body Assembly Michigan's (CBAM's) Employee Handbook in order to advise and guide associates.
  • Ensures materials are labelled correctly and stored in their designated or appropriate areas.
  • Is responsible and accountable for meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Continuous Improvement (CI) objectives.
  • Monitors work centers and stock centers to ensure a continuous supply of material, proper stock segregation and rotation.
