Production Assembler

Job Summary:
Assemble trailers including installing axles, wiring, and wood decking.

Core Responsibilities

  • Physical Assembly: Building the trailer frame, installing axles, tires, fenders, and flooring (wood or metal) using hand and power tools.
  • System Installation: Mounting electrical wiring, lights, brakes, and hydraulic or pneumatic components according to schematics.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpreting technical drawings, work orders, and blueprints to ensure parts are aligned and fastened correctly.
  • Finishing Tasks: Applying sealants, caulking, and decals, as well as performing minor paint touch-ups or sanding.
  • Quality Control: Conducting inspections to verify dimensions and fit, ensuring the finished unit meets all factory specifications.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency with tools like impact wrenches, pneumatic drills, saws, and measuring devices like calipers or tape measures.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for 8–12 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions like bending, stooping, or working overhead.
  • Technical Knowledge: A basic understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, and sometimes basic welding or carpentry.
  • Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with safety protocols, including the use of PPE like steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
  • Education: Most positions require a high school diploma or equivalent, with many employers providing on-the-job training.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of 0-5 years previous experience.
Good mechanical aptitude.
Ability to understand and interpret drawings.
Excellent hand to eye coordination.
Basic knowledge of hand and power tool usage.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently following general procedures.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to operate general office equipment such as telephone, copier, fax, computer, etc.

Job Type:
Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Depending on Experience

Schedule:
10-hour shifts Day shift with overtime on Fridays as required.

Ability to commute/relocate:
Huron, SD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Assembly or Mechanical Skills: 1-2 years (Preferred but not required)
