Position Summary

Under the direction of the Shift Leader and Production Supervisor/Manager, the Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up and operating manufacturing equipment used to combine dry and liquid chemicals into customer products. This role ensures safety remains the top priority while producing high-quality products efficiently and in accordance with customer specifications, company policies, and operating procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up, start, and operate extrusion and related manufacturing equipment while adhering to safety procedures and quality standards.
• Verify machine settings and controls to ensure proper operation.
• Weigh and load ingredients according to recipe specifications.
• Monitor production processes and equipment performance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues as needed.
• Operate machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, and handle materials according to established procedures.
• Inspect materials visually and physically to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
• Work effectively in both Food Grade and Industrial manufacturing environments.
• Collect and deliver product samples to the laboratory for evaluation and batch adjustments when required.
• Perform machine cleaning, preventive maintenance tasks, and major/minor changeovers.
• Complete all required production documentation, logs, reports, and system transactions accurately.
• Maintain data integrity within production systems.
• Follow all safety rules, work procedures, and housekeeping standards.
• Participate in training, retraining, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report equipment, process, or quality issues to supervisors or production leads.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and production recipes.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving weights, volumes, and measurements.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers, email, internet applications, and Microsoft Office.
• Manual dexterity and ability to safely use various hand tools.
• Forklift operation experience or ability to become certified.
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
