Position Summary

Responsible for verifying part numbers, organizing materials, maintaining stock bins, and Kanban levels.

Transport materials, deliver kits and shortages, maintain lot control, and adjust inventory levels as

needed. The role involves adhering to cycle count processes, inspecting operations, performing

housekeeping duties, managing work to-do lists, and utilizing operations reports to optimize workflow.

Collaboration with production supervisors and understanding of material flow and shop-floor layout.

Typically reports to a supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

Verify Part Numbers and Locations: Match part numbers on incoming parts with bin locations to

ensure proper placement of materials.

Organize Materials: Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a

predetermined sequence for storage.

Maintain Stock Bins: Ensure accurate counts and proper labeling of stock bins; set up new bins as

needed.

Maintain Kanban Levels: Ensure Kanban levels are maintained and orders are launched as required.

Prioritize Parts Assignment: Determine the priority for parts to be pulled.

Transport Materials: Retrieve and convey parts, equipment, and materials from receiving or

production areas to storage or other designated areas. Load parts and materials onto carts or use

appropriate material-moving equipment.

Deliver Kits and Shortages: Deliver kits and shortages to supported work centers.

Maintain Lot Control: Ensure proper lot control and serialized inventory.

Operate Material Handling Equipment: Use equipment such as electric carts, push carts, pallet

jacks, trucks, skids, and hand tools to transport items as necessary.

Adjust Inventory Levels: Adjust inventory levels as required.

Adhere to Cycle Count Process: Follow the cycle count schedule and process, with the ability to

reconcile and resolve discrepancies.

Inspect and Report: Scrutinize every aspect of the job and report improper operations, faulty

equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the Supervisor.

Perform Housekeeping: Perform housekeeping chores as required by the department.

Manage Work to Do Lists: Monitor and maintain Work to Do Lists for assigned areas of

responsibility.

Utilize Operations Reports: Use various operations reports to maintain inventory and optimize

workflow through assigned work centers.

Collaborate with Production Supervisors: Work directly with Production Supervisors and

participate in providing status updates in group settings.

Understand Material Flow: Possess advanced knowledge of material flow and shop-floor layout

throughout the facility.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function

satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability

Education and Experience

Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of experience in materials scheduling and

handling preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of computer systems and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) systems is

necessary to perform the duties of this position.

Physical Demands Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform and accomplish tasks. Ability to lift and carry

up to 35 lbs.

Mental Demands General understanding of ERP computer system.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel proficiency, is required.

Requires knowledge and experience in establishing Kanban, JIT or Supplier Managed Inventory

programs.

General understanding of drawings, specification, and units of measure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to both office and plant

environments. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous

or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.

Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers,

community members and regulatory agency representatives.

Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
