Production Control Engineer II

Contract Type/Duration: Contract through August 2028; potential to extend or convert

Location: Getzville, NY - fully onsite. Candidates should live within approximately 50 miles / one hour of the worksite.

Schedule: First 30 days: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM for training. Regular schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM, with some flexibility for night/weekend work.

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on Production Control Engineer II to support and maintain a large data center environment. This role combines data center operations, hardware installation and decommissioning, structured cabling, break/fix support, and infrastructure troubleshooting. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of data center infrastructure experience and is comfortable working independently in a fully onsite environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and decommission enterprise servers, racks, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Rack and stack servers, networking devices, monitoring systems, and other data center equipment.
  • Install racks, connect cabling, power up equipment, and hand servers off to internal provisioning teams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair data center hardware and networking infrastructure.
  • Support structured copper and fiber cabling, cable testing, cabinet consolidation, and documentation.
  • Support daily hardware installs, break/fix activities, and equipment decommissions.
  • Assist with production operations, system management tools, performance monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Follow change management, testing, documentation, and production-readiness processes.
  • Document standard operating procedures and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of related data center / IT infrastructure experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with data center infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with structured copper and fiber cabling and cable testing.
  • Working knowledge of data center cooling and electrical system concepts.
  • Experience installing, racking, stacking, cabling, powering up, troubleshooting, and decommissioning hardware.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably in a fully onsite role.
