Description
Job Summary:
The Production Engineer / Programmer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing programs and production support processes for CNC, laser, plasma, robotic welding, and fabrication equipment. This role serves as a technical resource for production personnel by supporting machine programming, resolving tooling and process concerns, improving production workflows, and ensuring programs and documentation support safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication operations.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain CNC, laser, plasma, robotic welding, and fabrication programs as required.
- Create machine programs using CAD/CAM software and manufacturing systems.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturability and programming accuracy.
- Provide technical support for production personnel regarding manufacturing processes and programming issues.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine performance concerns.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support day-to-day production needs related to programming, setup, workflow, and fabrication process issues.
- Analyze production workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput, and repeatability.
- Assist in reducing setup times, cycle times, scrap, and rework.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives as they relate to production programming and equipment use.
Engineering & Documentation Coordination
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address manufacturability or programming concerns.
- Review bills of material, routings, and manufacturing documentation for accuracy related to production programming.
- Support engineering change implementation where changes impact machine programs, tooling, or production methods.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to programming, setup, and production support activities.
Quality, Data & ERP Support
- Ensure programs and production support processes comply with company quality standards and customer requirements.
- Support corrective actions, root cause analysis, and preventive actions related to programming or production process concerns.
- Create and maintain production information, routings, labor standards, and related manufacturing data within ERP systems as required.
- Analyze production metrics and recommend improvements based on data.
Safety
- Promote safe manufacturing practices and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Participate in safety audits, investigations, and improvement activities as needed.
- Ensure programming, tooling, equipment, and process changes consider employee safety requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be mindful of safety and use proper PPE when required.
Salary Description
$75,000.00-$95,000.00
