We are actively hiring experienced Forklift Operators for a high-volume manufacturing facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This is a fast-paced production environment where the forklift operator plays a critical role in keeping production moving efficiently and safely.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or automotive setting and must be comfortable working around production lines, racks, raw materials, and finished goods. Forklift Operator Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely throughout the manufacturing facility
- Supply production lines using a forklift to ensure continuous production flow
- Move raw materials, containers, pallets, and racks using a forklift
- Transport finished goods to shipping and warehouse areas with a forklift
- Load and unload trucks using a sit-down forklift or stand-up forklift
- Perform daily forklift inspections and complete safety checklists
- Maintain proper battery charging and fueling procedures for the forklift
- Use RF scanners while operating the forklift to track inventory movement
- Stage materials and organize inventory locations using a forklift
- Support shipping and receiving operations with efficient forklift movement
- Maintain safe forklift traffic flow throughout the facility
- Follow all OSHA and company forklift safety procedures
- Assist with material handling and warehouse duties related to forklift operations
- Keep the forklift and work area clean and organized at all times
Forklift Operator Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent forklift experience in manufacturing, automotive, warehouse, or industrial environments
- Prior experience operating a sit-down forklift, stand-up forklift, reach truck, or tugger preferred
- Strong understanding of industrial forklift safety practices
- Experience supporting production lines using a forklift strongly preferred
- Ability to safely maneuver a forklift in tight manufacturing spaces
- Stable work history operating a forklift in a high-volume environment
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Strong attendance and reliability required for this forklift operator position
Preferred Forklift Experience
- Automotive manufacturing forklift experience
- Tier 1 supplier forklift experience
- Shipping and receiving using a forklift
- Production material handling with a forklift
- Warehouse inventory movement with a forklift
- Experience using RF scanners while operating a forklift
- Experience with lean manufacturing and 5S environments involving daily forklift operations
Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and operate a forklift for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when assisting with materials around the forklift area
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment
- Ability to safely operate a forklift around machinery, employees, and production equipment
