Production - Industrial Cleaning Tech 1st shiftMonday - Friday 7:30 am to 4 pmRole Objective: The Production Area Cleaning Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment within a plastic injection molding facility. This role focuses on cleaning and removing oil, hydraulic fluid, plastic resin, scrap material, and production debris from manufacturing areas. The position requires an understanding of manufacturing safety practices and the ability to work around injection molding equipment without causing damage to machinery or creating safety hazards.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClean and maintain production floors, machine areas, workstations, aisles, and surrounding manufacturing spaces.Remove oil, hydraulic fluid, grease, and other contaminants from floors and equipment surfaces using approved cleaning methods.Sweep, vacuum, and collect plastic pellets, regrind, flash, scrap material, and other manufacturing debris.Clean areas surrounding plastic injection molding machines while following all safety procedures.Dispose of waste materials according to company procedures and environmental guidelines.Maintain housekeeping supplies, cleaning equipment, and spill response materials.Respond promptly to spills and potential slip, trip, and fall hazards.Support production and maintenance teams by maintaining a clean and organized work environment.Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment leaks, damaged guards, or other workplace hazards.Follow established lockout/tagout awareness practices and avoid interfering with machinery operation.Ensure walkways, emergency exits, electrical panels, and fire safety equipment remain unobstructed.Perform routine inspections of assigned areas and document cleaning activities as required.Adhere to all company safety, quality, and environmental policies.Safety RequirementsUnderstanding of general manufacturing safety practices.Awareness of machinery hazards and moving equipment.Basic understanding of electrical safety and restricted access areas.Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to oil, hydraulic fluid, and material spills.Knowledge of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace for self and others.Ability to work safely around operating injection molding machines without disrupting production or damaging equipment.Physical RequirementsFrequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Push, pull, and move cleaning equipment and waste containers.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoesEmployees must have adequate communication skills to read and understand instructions and safety procedures, to understand and comply with supervisory instructions, and to communicate problems or difficulties.
