The primary role of the Production Lead is to guide the team; including, but not limited to, production flow and scheduling with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. A successful candidate will create a culture of teamwork and cooperation between major processing segments and integrate operating personnel and maintenance staff. Through cross training, the Production Lead is expected to assist with all positions across the facility.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Promote safety to the team members and be an example of taking the lead in putting safety 1st
Coach, teach, and train team members - including documentation, disciplinary, hiring, training, project management, maintenance, schedules, and coordination with other departments
Operate all production machinery throughout the facility and rolling stock
Implement and maintain Quality Control Programs that certify the product meets our company high quality standards
Build sustainable communication bridges between departments for quality, production changes, and inventory plans.
Know, Understand, and Apply all aspects of the Quality Management System, and Standard Quality Control Procedures
Monitor the quality of product and correct issues when substandard conditions exist
Analyzes, identifies causes, and implements corrective action on potential issues
Understanding of company profit, value, and cost analysis
Attend a variety of daily huddles and operating meetings
Determine how systems should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
Optimize human capacity of team based on operational flow and needs
Performs mandatory pre-shift checklists and daily maintenance records
Assist with preventive/predictive maintenance activities and cleaning
Overseas and supports training and mentoring of employees
Support Lean improvements and projects
Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures
Entry level laborer duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their "home locations" at all times
Maintain lines of communication with other team members
Fill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when needed
Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Leadership experience in the production industry
5+ years in a leadership role overseeing 8+ people, preferred
Ability to create quality and cost analysis
Maintenance knowledge, preferred
Ability to solve problems with a solution-oriented focus
Excellent in a team environment, with exceptional communication and customer service skills
Self-directed leader, safe leadership record, and can coach, teach, and train others to be leaders
Problem solving, technical troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organization skills
Strong computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft products
Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures
Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record
Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility
Lean techniques and experience preferred
Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment
Must have HS Diploma/GED
Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time

45+ hours a week
Shift work and/or weekends when necessary

SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS:
Pay: $25-$34/hr
