Production Machinist I
Worcester, MA 01606 | 3-month contract | $24/hr (W2)
Overview:
Entry-level machinist role responsible for precision machining of parts using CNC and manual equipment in a manufacturing environment. Works from detailed work orders and blueprints to perform repetitive production tasks with defined tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders
- Interpret blueprints and work instructions to determine machining processes
- Select tools, materials, feeds, and speeds based on job requirements
- Perform basic fixturing with support and ensure accurate part production
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Collaborate with senior machinists to improve processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of machining experience
- CNC/machining training or apprenticeship preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and apply basic machining math
- Basic computer skills and understanding of machining principles
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Manufacturing setting with noise, dust, and moving machinery
- Standing for long periods; lifting up to 50 lbs
- Use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) required

- 4–6 months to achieve full proficiency
- Highly repetitive, detail-oriented work with defined processes
