Production Machinist I
Worcester, MA 01606 | 3-month contract | $24/hr (W2)

Overview:
Entry-level machinist role responsible for precision machining of parts using CNC and manual equipment in a manufacturing environment. Works from detailed work orders and blueprints to perform repetitive production tasks with defined tolerances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders
  • Interpret blueprints and work instructions to determine machining processes
  • Select tools, materials, feeds, and speeds based on job requirements
  • Perform basic fixturing with support and ensure accurate part production
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Collaborate with senior machinists to improve processes

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of machining experience
  • CNC/machining training or apprenticeship preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and apply basic machining math
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of machining principles

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Manufacturing setting with noise, dust, and moving machinery
  • Standing for long periods; lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) required
