Production Machinist
= Location: Worcester, MA 01606
= Pay Rate: $24.00 – $26.00/hr
=T Shift: 2nd Shift | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (30-min lunch)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Production Machinist I to support precision machining operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role involves operating CNC and conventional machining equipment, interpreting blueprints, and producing parts within defined tolerances. The ideal candidate will have machining experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a repetitive production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC and manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and saws
- Set up machines and select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds based on materials and specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
- Perform precision machining operations while maintaining required tolerances
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and indicators
- Make minor machine adjustments and cutter compensation as needed
- Assist with fixturing and collaborate with higher-level machinists on process improvements
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of machining experience or equivalent technical training
- Experience operating CNC machines and metal fabrication equipment preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances
- Basic knowledge of machining mathematics and machinist handbook concepts
- Basic computer skills
= Compensation Guidance:
- $24/hr: Entry-level or basic programming knowledge
- $26/hr: Stronger programming experience
Skills & Technical Requirements
- Knowledge of materials such as metals, alloys, aluminum, steel, and ceramics
- Understanding of machining characteristics, feeds, and speeds
- Experience with machine attachments (rotary tables, chucks, milling attachments)
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges, indicators)
- Familiarity with pre-programmed CNC operations and basic adjustments
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance)
- Exposure to metal chips, coolants, lubricants, and airborne particles
- PPE required (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
