Production Manager - 2nd Shift

2^nd Shift Production Manager opportunity in the Walterboro, SC area to lead all production operations in a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing environment. This position oversees production personnel, manages schedules, and drives continuous improvement while partnering closely with Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and Operations leadership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who coaches and develops teams and makes data-driven decisions.

Join a privately held, well-established specialty chemical additives manufacturer with a collaborative, customer-focused culture on 2^nd shift (Mon–Thurs, 7:00pm–7:00am).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience
• 5+ years of manufacturing or production leadership experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management role
• Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S principles
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and OSHA requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to analyze production data and make data-driven decisions
• Preferred: chemical, coatings, plastics, or related manufacturing experience; ISO-certified environment; ERP or MES experience; Lean Six Sigma training; forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

 
Responsibilities

• Lead daily production activities to meet schedules safely, efficiently, and on time
• Plan and coordinate staffing, workflow, and production priorities
• Monitor key production metrics and implement corrective actions to improve performance
• Maintain accurate production records, inventory transactions, and operational documentation
• Partner with Maintenance and Logistics to maximize equipment uptime and material availability
• Ensure production follows approved batch records, SOPs, and work instructions; monitor yields and investigate variances
• Support ISO quality standards and documentation compliance
• Promote a strong safety culture: conduct routine inspections, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions
• Lead, coach, and develop full-time and temporary production employees, including cross-training plans and documented training
• Use visual management tools and production boards to communicate priorities and performance
• Manage departmental budgets and production resources
