Position: Production Manager - Fabrication and Facilities

Position Summary: The Production Manager - Fabrication and Facilities leads fabrication operations and oversees the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the company's facilities, grounds, and building systems. This role is accountable for achieving production, quality, delivery, safety, and cost objectives; optimizing people, equipment, and workflow; and ensuring facilities support the needs of employees, visitors, and business operations. The Manager also develops fabrication and maintenance personnel, drives continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with applicable company, quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Direct day-to-day fabrication operations to achieve production and shipping plans while meeting ISO 9000, CMD quality, safety, delivery, and cost standards.
- Plan and prioritize work to optimize labor, equipment utilization, workflow, and throughput, and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback.
- Lead daily execution, analyze capacity, and implement recovery plans upon delay.
- Coach and develop direct reports to safely operate, set up, and troubleshoot laser-cutting systems, CNC equipment, press brakes, welding equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and to accurately interpret drawings, specifications, and tolerances for fabricated metal assemblies.
- Conduct routine stand ups to communicate workload, priorities, handoffs, and risks.
- Direct the maintenance, repair, and reliable operation of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems.
- Oversee the maintenance of grounds and outdoor spaces to ensure they remain safe, functional, and well maintained.
- Develop and manage facilities and fabrication budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
- Select and coordinate external contractors and vendors, and hold them accountable for meeting established scope, schedule, quality, and budget requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts from the ground up, empowering employees to seek gains in efficiency and quality and to own mistakes and take corrective action.
- Collaborate cross functionally to develop, implement, and maintain facility emergency response and preparedness plans, including drills and training.
- Ensure facilities and fabrication operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including permitting, commercial land use, waste management, environmental practices, and logistics.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators and provide regular reports on facility operations, maintenance activities, production performance, risks, and corrective actions.
- Lead fabrication and maintenance personnel, including workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, technical training, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
- Communicate and consistently enforce company policies, work rules, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient fabrication environment by ensuring equipment safety, regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and effective housekeeping practices.

Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and other routine office and manufacturing equipment.
- The position requires sufficient physical mobility to inspect and interact with capital equipment and manufacturing processes, including the ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and work in various positions as needed.
- The position requires the ability to navigate the manufacturing environment safely, including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to visually inspect equipment, components, and work areas, as well as perform computer-based tasks.
- Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and other protective equipment as required by the work environment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, odors, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements, including established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to operate tow motors, cranes, pallet jacks, and related equipment as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and BoMs.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Status: Full-time, exempt.
Travel: Occasional travel for industry/trade meetings.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or electrical field, preferred. Experienced candidates with an Associate's degree are encouraged to apply.
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in equipment manufacturing, fabrication, or similar production / shop role.
- Significant experience in the skilled trades, emergency preparedness, US military, or similar field, desirable.
- Certified or able to become certified in First Aid/CPR, preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Required to carry a cellphone and remain available for contact or call-in, in the event of equipment failures or other emergencies.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
