The Production Manager is responsible for the operation of all chemical production areas to ensure that safety, quality, volume, and cost standards are achieved. Will plan and establish staffing requirements and production sequences to maximize productivity. Support individual/team developmentalactivities to continuously enhance operator skills and foster a strong working environment. Provide production process analysis and make recommendations on solutions to process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of production supervisors, team leaders, coordinators, and operators
  • Be actively engaged in and support a safety focused work environment by upholding the company's safety guidelines and policies
  • Champion continuous improvement of production processes through application of 5S and LEAN manufacturing practices
  • Participate in incident investigations & assist in development and initiation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for new/existing processes
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling and handling of generated waste
  • Monitor/measure first pass batches and driving continuous improvement of processes to ensure maximum possibility of first pass/zero defect production
  • Ensure compliance with the current ISO9001 standards
  • Review applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a regular basis
  • Fully document operating data, activities and events on appropriate forms and records
  • Execute daily production plan by establishing priorities, assigning personnel, monitoring progress, resolving problems, and reporting progress on shift production summaries
  • Be knowledgeable, assist, as necessary, in all production processes and areas
  • Coordinate with maintenance related to production needs to ensure safe and timely repairs
  • Interview, hire, promote production employees, including assisting with the onboarding process of new hires
  • Provide and keep current training and certification of all employees in production areas
  • Conduct annual reviews for staff performance
  • Interact professionally with production personnel and all other departments
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with vendors and customers, when needed
  • Work to maximize yields and improve cycle times
  • Monitor department spending/control cost through oversight and cost savings projects
  • Available after hours for plant assistance by phone or on site

Requirements:

  • B.S., Chemical Engineering degree preferred
  • 5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience. Ideally 1-2 years of leadership/management experience in a chemical production area
  • Experience in a PSM manufacturing environment
  • Direct knowledge of batch chemical manufacturing processes would be ideal
  • Experience with PLC and/or DCS controls
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Strong knowledge of organizational workflow and ability to delegate by assigning responsibilities
  • Advanced organizational skills; proficient multi-tasker
  • Knowledge of process equipment and ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Data driven with the ability to generate and submit reports on performance and progress
  • Proficiency with computers & computer software (Microsoft Office and RMP systems)
  • Strong coaching and training skills (onboarding of new employees, training employees)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and results-driven
