Production Manager

This position is with Hexagon's Mining division, a global technology leader, and solution provider for surface and underground mine challenges, with proven technologies for planning, operations, and safety.

The Production Manager plays a key leadership role in driving safe, efficient, and on-time production across day and swing shifts, leading a team of approximately 30 to 50 employees. Working from the daily production schedule, this role oversees the materials, people, and resources needed to manufacture, modify, and repair products while ensuring high quality standards, cost control, and delivery performance. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact by coordinating cross-functional support, solving production challenges, and helping the team consistently meet customer and business expectations.

Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Identifying and resolving bottlenecks in the production process
  • Identifying opportunities and guiding teams to continuously improve processes using Lean methodology
  • Leading production meetings and coaching employees
  • Interface with the engineering, quality, supply chain, purchasing and warehouse teams
  • Being effective in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment
  • Coordinating and supervising all work performed within the department(s), including the assignment and utilization of labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules and performance / quality standards.
  • Working with cross-functional personnel to resolve problems.
  • Counseling and disciplining production employees who fail to perform or violate company policies
  • Completing performance evaluations for all employees under his / her supervision
  • Interface with other supervisors to coordinate his / her department's work with that of other departments
  • Managing key performance indicators and preparing reports for regular communication
  • Enforcing safety policies and procedures, (both in-house and regulatory), to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job
  • Selecting, supervising, and training subordinates in overall performance of their job
  • Coordinating production with planners for priority scheduling and backlog reduction
  • Performing other duties or tasks as assigned by Operations Director
  • Assurance that inventory is cycle counted and correct daily
  • Support ISO 9001 and 14001

Knowledge and experience required:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of production experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience and the ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production levels within tight time deadlines.
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics within a highly dynamic environment.
  • Kaizen mindset.
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written.

Knowledge and experience desired:

  • Industrial Engineering experience
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience with 8-Step and 8D problem solving methodology

Some international and/or domestic travel is required - 10-15%
