Description

Summary:

Training Schedule: 8am-4pm (Monday - Friday for 2 months). Once trained, move to shift 2nd Shift 2:00pm - 10pm (Monday - Friday with some weekend OT if needed).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory and control metrics in a 24/7 shop environment.
  • Pull material from warehouse for shop use and ensure correct issuance to locomotives.
  • Manage stockouts and obtain updated estimated times of arrival for parts.
  • Perform cycle counts to correct inventory inconsistencies.
  • Forecast material needs for inbound and in-shop locomotives.
  • Perform quality control on inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Arrange LTL and Expedite shipments using the Ryder portal.
  • Use multiple software programs to order, receive, ship, and track materials.
  • Read mechanical drawings to determine needed material.
  • Operate forklifts, including daily shift inspections.
  • Compile reports on various inventory metrics.
  • Process sales of material.
  • Retrieve and process repair cycle assets.
  • Restock warehouse and shop floor material.
  • Perform general housekeeping, maintenance, and organization of the warehouse.
  • Process warranty claims on eligible removed cores.
  • Answer requests from Circle of Service shops for additional materials.
  • Record material transactions via appropriate systems.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock.
  • Assist with coordination of physical inventory counting.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma / GED or at least 2 years of recent relevant work history.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience in logistics or shipping/receiving environments.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other shop equipment safely.
  • High attention to detail in managing multiple duties.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse/shop environment.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
  • High level of dependability and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Oracle and other inventory management systems.
  • Capability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members.
