Description

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10:00 PM – 8:30 AM

Position Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used to blend, mix, package, and transport liquid or dry chemicals that make up customer products. This role ensures the production of high-quality products while meeting customer specifications, production schedules, and safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, and operate production machinery while ensuring compliance with operating procedures, safety regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Weigh ingredients according to recipe specifications and load materials into production equipment.
  • Verify that the correct ingredients and pre-blended materials are delivered to the work area before processing.
  • Monitor production equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation and troubleshoot equipment or process issues as needed.
  • Operate machinery used to mix, extrude, discharge, and handle materials according to standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect materials visually and physically to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collect material samples for laboratory testing and implement batch adjustments as directed.
  • Report production or equipment issues to the Production Lead or Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform required machine cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Complete all required production documentation and system transactions accurately while maintaining data integrity.
  • Maintain production logs, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in training, retraining, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all company safety policies, work rules, and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands to handle materials and operate equipment.
  • Occasionally sit during the workday.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally assist with handling materials weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to perform work requiring close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to:
    • Safety glasses
    • Safety shoes
    • Gloves
    • Respirator or dust mask
    • Hearing protection
    • Face shield
    • Hard hat
    • Chemical suit and apron, as required
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:
    • Moving mechanical parts
    • Dust and airborne particles
    • Wet and humid conditions
    • Chemical dust and non-hazardous chemical agents
    • Vibration
    • Outdoor weather conditions
    • Moderate to high noise levels
    • Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and electrical hazards
  • All work must be performed in accordance with plant safety guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Experience

One year of experience in one or more of the following:

  • Plastics manufacturing
  • Colorant manufacturing
  • Mixing operations
  • Blending operations
  • Extrusion
  • Industrial manufacturing operations
  • Mechanical manufacturing processes
  • Problem-solving techniques in a manufacturing environment
