Production Operator - 3rd Shift

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 PM–5:30 AM
Training: Training will begin on 1st Shift
Position Type: Temp-to-Perm

General Summary

The Production Operator is an entry-level position within the manufacturing area. This position is primarily responsible for performing weigh-up and/or packaging duties within the Production Department.

The Production Operator is responsible for helping ensure the highest quality products are produced at the lowest possible cost while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Obtain the correct documentation for each batch and ensure all required ingredients are delivered to the appropriate work area.

• Obtain and weigh ingredients as needed for mixing, ensuring all materials meet recipe specifications.

• Set up and start weigh-up and/or packaging machinery, ensuring all controls are properly adjusted and operating in accordance with safety and operating procedures.

• Safely and efficiently process, batch off, screen, cut, package, and/or skid materials to the correct size and container according to customer specifications.

• Accurately supply and support Production Operators with the appropriate materials and functions necessary to keep equipment operating efficiently.

• Notify appropriate personnel promptly of any issues, problems, or concerns.

• Perform all required machine and equipment cleaning.

• Complete and maintain all required paperwork and production documentation accurately.

• Follow all safety policies, work rules, and company regulations.

• Maintain departmental housekeeping and cleanliness standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical & Environmental Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.

• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.

• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.

• Talk and hear.

• Occasionally sit.

• Frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 55 pounds.

• Occasionally handle materials weighing up to 250 pounds.

The position requires the ability to perform tasks requiring:

• Close vision

• Distance vision

• Color vision

• Peripheral vision

• Depth perception

• Ability to adjust focus

Safety Equipment

Employees are required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to the work area and as directed by plant safety guidelines. PPE may include:

• Safety glasses

• Chemical suits

• Gloves

• Aprons

Work Environment

The employee may be exposed to:

• Moderate noise levels, with occasional exposure to high-noise areas

• Wet and/or humid conditions

• Dust and chemical dust

• Fumes and airborne particles

• Moving mechanical parts

• Vibration

• Non-hazardous chemical agents

• Toxic or caustic chemicals

• Risk of electrical shock

• Outdoor weather conditions

Proper personal protective equipment must be worn as required by plant safety guidelines and the specific work area.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED — Required

Experience

• Manufacturing/Industrial Operations — 1 year

• Cross-Functional Problem-Solving Techniques — 1 year

Skills & Certifications

• Forklift Operator Certification/License — Required

• Manual Dexterity — Intermediate

• Quantitative Skills — Intermediate

• Reading and Comprehension — Intermediate

• Conflict Resolution Skills — Intermediate
